The Audubon Fire Department always welcomes new members. We have 3 classes of membership. Below are the classes and eligibility requirements.
Fire Fighter Open to all residents of the Borough of Audubon over the age of 18. The applicant must be a resident for at least 1 year. Accepted individuals must complete Fire Fighter I within 1 year of membership as defined by N.J.A.C. 5:70-1, unless transferring, in good standing, from an accredited Fire Department. All applicants will be subject to a physical evaluation and background investigation.
Fire Police Open to all residents of the Borough of Audubon over the age of 18 and in accordance with all membership requirements of the Corporation and Department. Upon Application, they shall be investigated by the Police Department and upon favorable approval, shall be granted Fire Police status with the Corporation and Department. All members appointed to the Fire Police will be required to complete the accredited course of instruction as certified by the Division of Fire Safety or equivalent as approved by the Department within 1 year.
Explorer Open to all residents of the Borough of Audubon between the ages of 14 and 18 and have completed the Eighth Grade. Applicants must also currently be enrolled in an approved educational institution or program. Upon application to the program, Explorer program advisors shall meet with the candidate and his/her parents or legal guardian to explain the program including rules and regulations. The parent and/or guardian shall be required to co-sign a membership application. All Explorers shall be required to operate under the rules and guidelines of the program as described.
